Updated on Saturday March 2, 2024: For all of you looking to take advantage of the TurboTax Amazon Refund Bonus Offer from years past — where you could have earned an extra 5% to 10% bonus on top of your federal refund in the form of an Amazon gift card — we’re sad to report that it’s no longer being offered here in 2024. It was a fantastic deal because if was just like getting free money for all of us that already do a majority of our shopping on Amazon. But wait… there’s still good news!
Amazon’s TurboTax Refund Bonus Offer Switches to H&R Block.
H&R Block’s tax filing software, which is a direct competitor to TurboTax, now offers pretty much the same type of extra bonus federal refund as we once saw with TurboTax. It’s an Amazon-only exclusive promotion available on qualifying versions of H&R Block software. Here’s how it works:
Purchase an eligible version of H&R Block 2024 tax software (for the 2023 tax year) at amazon.com. You’ll be able to select from boxed CD and download versions of Basic, Deluxe, Premium and Premium & Business (with or without State returns included). All qualifying versions will have the “refund bonus” icon on the box image as shown below.
Use the program to complete your tax return. When you’re ready to e-file, you will have the option of selecting to receive part of your federal individual income tax refund in the form of an Amazon gift card. You can designate any amount between a minimum of $100 and a maximum of $5,000.
H&R Block will add an extra 2.75% to the total amount you designate to your Amazon gift card. For example, if you designate $500 of your federal tax refund toward the purchase of the gift card, H&R block will automatically add $13.75 to the total amount, bringing the total value of the gift card to $513.75.
When your federal income tax refund has been sent by the IRS, H&R Block will email you your online Amazon Gift Card redemption code (typically within 3 days). Values of over $2000 will be sent via multiple gift cards.
Just remember, you won’t qualify for this offer if: (a) you are not eligible to receive a federal tax refund this year; (b) you decide to print your completed return and not e-file; (c) you do not agree to the posted Terms and Conditions; and/or (d) you are under the age of 18. Updated on Thursday February 1, 2024: If you’re heading out the San Marcos Premium Outlets this Thanksgiving weekend to pick up some Black Friday doorbuster deals then get ready for some major crowds and near-impossible parking… it’s one of the most busiest weekends of the year at the outlets. But will they be open this year on Thanksgiving day itself?
While we can’t yet officially confirm the details, this is expected to be the 5th year in a row where they won’t be open on Thanksgiving day itself. But it’s not only San Marcos Premium Outlets that will likely be closed but also the 200+ malls and outlets nationwide that are also owned and operated by the Simon Property Group. That’s on top of some of the largest big-box stores in Texas including Walmart, Best Buy, Kohl’s, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and Target that will also probably remain closed all day on Thanksgiving.
But don’t worry, you’ll have Black Friday and the rest of the long weekend to shop the deals. Here’s a look at this year’s predicted extended holiday store hours:
Thanksgiving Day: On Thursday November 28, 2024 all stores are expected to be closed for the entire day.
Black Friday: On Friday November 29, 2024 stores will likely open at 6:00 a.m. and close at 9:00 p.m.
Small Business Saturday: On Saturday November 30, 2024, stores will likely open at 10:00 a.m. and close at 9:00 p.m.
Sunday: On Sunday December 1, 2024, stores will likely open at 11:00 a.m. and close at 7:00 p.m.
Cyber Monday: On Monday December 2, 2024 stores will likely open at 10:00 a.m. and close at 9:00 p.m.
