Macy’s Black Friday 2020 Sale – What to Expect

It’s still too early for us to know what’s coming at Macy’s Black Friday sale this year but you can scroll down the page to see the details from last year to get an idea of what’s likely to come (we’re expecting to see a similar sale return).

We’ll be posting a copy of their ad and all the important details for 2020 once we know more. Be sure to check back again soon for the latest updates or simply join our newsletter and we’ll let you know the moment news is announced.

Expected 2020 Start & End Dates

In normal times, Macy’s always let you shop their Black Friday sale at and in stores starting on Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving. The only exceptions were a handful of doorbuster offers, usually including the “free-after-rebate” deals found on the front page of their ad, that were only available in stores on Thursday itself.

However, the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic has changed everything around this year. We’re expecting Macy’s to adjust their typical Black Friday sales schedule this year to accommodate social distancing rules that are currently in place in many cities and states across the country. We still don’t know how these changes will look like but will be posting all of the latest details here once they become available.

For now, here are our predicted Macy’s Black Friday 2020 sale start and end dates:

  • Expected sale start date: Wednesday November 25, 2020. Stores normally open from 10:00AM to 10:00PM.
  • Expected sale end date: Saturday November 28, 2020. Stores normally open at 8:00AM and close at 10:00PM.

Our Favorite Deals for 2020

We’ve been tracking Macy’s Black Friday sale for several years and have a general sense to the offers they typically run. So even though the official ad is not yet released, we already have a pretty good idea of what to watch out for here in 2020. Here’s some of our recommendations:

  • Free After Rebate — Macy’s is known for having their entire front page of their Black Friday ad filled with “free after rebate” offers. You will have to buy all the items, assuming you’re able to find them in stock because, as you can imagine, they sell out very quickly. But later at home if you fill out the and send in the appropriate rebate forms by mail then they all are essentially free after the rebate check arrives in the mail. It’ll be interesting to see if the Coronavirus pandemic changes the fact that these offers were always in-store deals that were not available online.
  • Small Appliances — When I think Macy’s I think KitchenAid. Not only can you expect mixer deals on Artisan, Pro and Classic models but also on KitchenAid accessories like the meat grinder and slicer attachments. They also had the Keurig K-Select K80 on sale for $79.99 and Ninja Pro Blender on sale for $69.99. Generally, last year all coffee makers, blenders and juicers were 20% off with an extra 20% off applied at checkout.
  • Home Cleaning — If it’s time to replacing your aging corded vacuums with a sleek, new, lightweight battery operated vacuum then Black Friday is when to do it. Last year Macy’s had all Dyson vacuums at $100 to $200 off the list price. You also had the Shark Rocket cordless vacuum on sale for $149.99 and nice little Black & Decker handheld vacuum on sale for just $9.99 after rebate. And for those of you that hate cleaning up after yourselves, the wi-fi enabled Shark Ion robot vacuum was on sale for $179.99 (compare to the iRobot Roomba).
  • Home Decor — With the holidays approaching, Macy’s has pages of deals on Christmas ornaments, tableware, scented candles and other home decor. Last year some of the highlighted specials included 60% off on Moose Munch candles (comparable to Woodwick and Yankee Candle), 60% off select ornaments (although not on the famous Swarovski Christmas ornaments), and up to 70% off on Oneida silverware sets (comparable to Mikasa dinnerware sets). We also liked their Villeroy & Boch New Wave & French Garden tableware collections from last year that were up to 60% off.

Once Macy’s Black Friday ad for 2020 is leaked and posted, likely sometime in early-November, we’ll update this list with our favorite deals.
