TurboTax 2026 Discounts & Offers

Updated on Sunday, February 1, 2026: We are back again this tax season with our live list of TurboTax discounts and offers for 2026, tracking all the best deals available from now through this year’s tax deadline on Tuesday, April 15th. That includes any exclusive partnership offers you’ll see through your bank and financial institutions (i.e. Fidelity, Bank of America, etc.) and those we find on popular social sites (i.e. Reddit). Enjoy!

Our Favorite TurboTax Offers, February 2026:

  • Extra 20% off TurboTax Online Federal — There’s an extra 20% discount available on TurboTax Online Federal products through March 30, 2026, and it’s applied automatically when you check out. You can use it on Do It Yourself, Live Assisted, or Full Service, depending on what feels right for your situation. This can come in handy if you want access to expert help without committing to the full cost up front. It’s especially useful if your return feels a bit outside your comfort zone.
  • Switch and file free in the app — If you didn’t file with TurboTax last year, you can switch over and file your taxes for free using the Do It Yourself option in the TurboTax or Credit Karma mobile app. This includes both federal and state returns and works for just about any tax situation, whether your return is simple or more involved. Even things like self-employment income, investments, rental property, or itemized deductions are covered. If you’re asked to upgrade, the fee is waived as long as you file in the app by 11:59pm ET on February 28, 2026. After that date, or if you move to a browser instead of the app, regular pricing applies.
  • Early-bird pricing — Filing earlier in the season can save you up to $40 with TurboTax’s early-bird pricing, available on federal online products through February 27, 2026. You can still choose how much help you want, from fully DIY to having someone guide you through the process. It’s also a good way to avoid the last-minute scramble that tends to happen closer to the deadline. Getting started early gives you more breathing room to review everything.
  • TurboTax for College Students — TurboTax walks students through the filing process step by step, which helps if this is your first time dealing with taxes. Many students qualify for education credits and deductions that can add up to over $1,000 back. It also helps explain what forms matter and which ones you can ignore. International students and non-resident filers can use Sprintax for more specialized support. Learn more.
  • Military Free — Active duty service members and reservists from E1 through E9 can file federal and state returns for free using TurboTax Deluxe, Premier, or Self-Employed with a DFAS-issued W-2. TurboTax Live and Desktop versions aren’t included, but the core filing is fully covered. This can take one more thing off your plate during an already busy year. Veterans and retirees still qualify for the standard discounts available to everyone else.
  • TurboTax Free Trial — You can start your return online at no cost and take your time exploring TurboTax’s tools and features. You won’t be charged unless you decide to file, so there’s no pressure to commit right away. It’s useful if you want to compare versions or just see how complicated your return actually is. Many people use it just to get organized before making a decision.
  • File for free with TurboTax Free Edition — TurboTax’s Free Edition. ~37% of filers qualify. Simple Form 1040 returns only (no schedules, except for EITC, CTC, student loan interest, and Schedule 1-A).

How will I know my TurboTax discount is properly applied?

Regardless which of the offers you use above, all TurboTax discounts are automatically applied to your order when you (a) follow a qualifying link and (b) login to your online TurboTax account. The same is true if you are taking advantage of a TurboTax discount through your bank or financial institution such as Fidelity, Bank of America, Citi or Vanguard. You’ll know that the offer is successfully applied once you are ready to pay for your TurboTax purchase. See below for an example.

What is a TurboTax service code?

When finalizing your tax return using any one of TurboTax’s online versions, you’ll come across a “I have a service code” message in your cart. What does this mean? Well, under certain circumstances select customers are given a code to tie back their purchase to a customer service agent, to apply a make-good discount (for example, if you were already changed previously for a version of TurboTax), or for some other reason. Very few customers are given these codes to use so if you don’t already have one then be sure to keep this space black.

Can I stack TurboTax discounts together towards a single purchase?

You’ll often find that there are several discounts offered for the same versions of TurboTax depending on where you look. For example, Fidelity may be offering $20 off Deluxe Online when purchased through your account, Chase Bank may be offering $10 off Deluxe Online when purchased through your account, you might find a $20 instant coupon on this page on Deluxe Online, maybe a $5 coupon on Reddit or Slickdeals, and so forth. Always choose the best deal because you will not be able to combine offers into a single purchase. Keep in mind that the last offer you clicked will be applied to your purchase — It’s the only one that counts.
