Hi! My name is Witold (pronounced "vee-told") and I am the founder of BlackerFriday.com. After many years working in corporate america, I decided it was time to take a break to pursue my real passion — helping people save money. Ever since I was a little boy selling pencils in the playground to my kindergarden friends, later collecting aluminum cans from all my neighbors in elementary school to support my baseball card addiction, eventually becoming an eBay Power Seller in my older years to support my college education, I had an eye for spotting deals. I’ve taken what I have learned over the years and built Blacker Friday to bring you the best Black Friday rumors, predictions, and news website. Fortunately I'm not alone in this - We have a great team of dedicated folks helping make this site possible. If you would like to connect with me you can do so on my Linkedin page, on our site’s Facebook page, or write me an email. Thanks for checking us out and I look forward to hearing from you!

TurboTax Deals & Discounts – February 2026

Updated on Monday, February 16, 2026: We are again tracking the top TurboTax deals through the April 15th tax deadline (which will be here sooner than we realize!). See below for a look at the most popular TurboTax offers available now, including those we found posted on tax related forums across the web (i.e. Reddit).

Our Favorite TurboTax Discounts, February 2026:

  • Extra 20% off TurboTax Online Federal — For a limited time, you can get an additional 20% off any TurboTax Online Federal product with instant coupon, on top of the regular price. This offer is good through March 30, 2026. You can pick the version that fits your needs: Do-It-Yourself lets you handle your taxes on your own with step-by-step guidance, Live Assisted gives you access to a tax expert who can answer questions as you go, and Full Service lets a professional take care of everything for you.
  • Early-bird savings — Filing early can save you up to $40 through TurboTax’s early-bird pricing, available on all federal online products through February 27, 2026. You can still choose the type of help you want, whether it’s doing it yourself, getting a little guidance, or having someone handle the return entirely. Filing early not only gives you extra savings but also helps avoid the stress of waiting until the last minute.
  • Switch and file for free in the TurboTax app — If you didn’t use TurboTax last year, you can switch and handle your taxes for free using the Do It Yourself option in the TurboTax or Credit Karma mobile app. This includes both federal and state returns, and it works for just about any tax situation—whether your taxes are straightforward or a bit more complicated, like self-employment income, stock or crypto transactions, rental property, unemployment benefits, or itemized deductions. You may see a prompt to upgrade if your return is more complex, but don’t worry—the upgrade fee will be waived as long as you complete and file your return in the app before 11:59pm ET on February 28, 2026. If you file after that date, or if you switch to a browser instead of the app, the normal pricing will apply. This is a low-pressure way to get started, see how your return looks, and file confidently without paying anything unless you choose to.
  • Military discount — Active duty military members and reservists from E1 through E9 can file both federal and state returns for free with TurboTax Deluxe, Premier, or Self-Employed, as long as they have a W-2 from DFAS. This does not include TurboTax Live or Desktop (CD/Download) products. Veterans and retirees still get the standard TurboTax discount available to everyone else. This makes filing easier and more affordable for service members.
  • TurboTax for College Students — First-time filers can follow step-by-step guidance to make taxes less confusing. Students may qualify for over $1,000 back through education credits and deductions. International students or non-resident filers can get help through Sprintax to make sure everything is filed correctly. This way, students can focus on school while still getting all the credits and deductions they’re entitled to.
  • TurboTax Free Edition — About ~37% of filers qualify. Simple Form 1040 returns only (no schedules, except for EITC, CTC, student loan interest, and Schedule 1-A).
  • Try Out TurboTax Before You Pay — You can start your tax return online completely for free and explore all of TurboTax’s tools and features. You only pay right before you file if you choose to do so. This gives you the freedom to try different versions, see which works best for your situation, and get comfortable with the process before committing to a paid product. It’s a low-pressure, flexible way to handle your taxes at your own pace.

TurboTax FAQ’s

What is a TurboTax Service Code?

You’ll notice that in the Online versions of TurboTax, right towards the end before you choose your payment options, there will the a “I have a service code” field. This is an area where you can either enter a coupon code if you’ve received one by mail or to track an order to a service agent if you received pre-purchase support. In most cases you will not need to enter anything here because the offers listed above are all automatically apply when you follow the provided link.

There are a few articles on Reddit where some people have reported getting free copies of TurboTax vis service code, but these are only in special circumstances and often hard to get.

What’s the difference between TurboTax Online and Desktop?

TurboTax comes in two different flavors — 100% web based and as a download where you need to install the software on your computer. Both options have their pros and cons. Let’s take a look at some of the highlights of each.

The online versions are convenient as there’s no software that needed to be installed and you can access your tax return from any internet-connected device (phone, tablet, laptop, etc.). You’ll also be able to access any previous tax returns as a copy is save in your accounts history. The disadvantage of TurboTax Online is that there’s always a risk, however small it may be, that your online account will be compromised.

With the desktop version of TurboTax you loose many of the convince features. You have to download and install software and can only work on one machine. Plus because your tax return is stored locally, if anything happens to your computer then you risk loosing your tax return if you haven’t backed up a copy elsewhere. But you do gain in security as your personal information is not stored in the cloud.

Just remember that the closer we get to the deadline the less likely we’ll see as many offers (prices have historically gone up for last minute filers).

What is a TurboTax Service Code?

From time to time, and only in special circumstances, TurboTax may issue you something called a “Service Code” — It’s a 7-digit number used for either order tracking or for applying a special credit (usually distributed by folks in Intuit’s customer service department). But if you happen to use any promotions found on this page, you’ll find that all of them have a service code built into the link url. That means any discount will be automatically applied with no other codes needed at checkout.

If you happen to have a service code that you would like to use, then you’ll be able to apply it to your TurboTax Online purchase, if applicable, right before the “view payments” section under the “file” tab as shown in the screenshot below.

How else can I save on TurboTax?

You may be able to save on TurboTax through your bank or financial institution. For example, in year’s past their was a Citibank TurboTax discount available if you completed your TurboTax purchase through your online banking account (found in the special offers section of your account). However, the partner discounts, like the one from Citi, are usually no more than $5 to $15 off which in many cases is less than the offers we typically highlight on this page. You can learn more about the options available at citi.com.

Does it cost extra to file a State tax return with TurboTax?

If you need to file a State tax return along with Federal tax return, then there is an extra filing fee that you will need to pay. The cost will vary from State to State and may depend on the version of TurboTax that you’re using this year and the number of State returns you need to file. There are usually no extra discounts offered from TurboTax on State returns.
