TurboTax 2026 Discounts & Offers – February 2026

Top TurboTax Discounts Available in February 2026

Updated on Monday, February 16, 2026: Tax season is here once again, and if you’re on the hunt for savings on TurboTax to make filing a little easier (and cheaper), there are several discounts available this month. Below is a breakdown of all our favorites, along with tips on how to make the most of these deals.

1. Early filers can save as much as $40 with special early-bird pricing.

One of the best deals on TurboTax right now is the early-bird pricing that’s offered on all of TurboTax’s federal online products (which you can pick up here). This deal is flexible, allowing you to choose from different service tiers based on your tax preparation needs:

  • Do-It-Yourself Versions: These are ideal for those who are comfortable handling their taxes on their own with the help of TurboTax’s user-friendly software.
  • Live Assisted Versions: For those who might want a little extra help, these versions provide access to tax experts who can guide you through the process.
  • Full Service Versions: If the thought of doing your taxes makes you shudder, this option lets TurboTax’s team handle the entire process for you.

This offer is valid through February 27, 2026.

2. For anyone who didn’t file with TurboTax last year, you can switch and file for free in the app.

File your taxes for free, no matter how simple or complex your situation is, when you switch to TurboTax and use the Do It Yourself option in the TurboTax or Credit Karma mobile app. This limited-time offer covers both federal and state returns and is available at no cost as long as you start and file in the app by 11:59pm ET on February 28, 2026. It is available to new customers only, meaning you cannot have filed with TurboTax last year. If you filed with TurboTax the year before last but not last year, you are still eligible. Please note that this offer applies only to the Do It Yourself product and does not include TurboTax Live or Expert-assisted services.

If your taxes are more involved, such as reporting self-employment income, stock or crypto sales, rental property income, unemployment benefits, or itemized deductions, you can still file for free under this offer. You may be asked to upgrade to one of their paid products like Standard, Deluxe, or Premium, but the upgrade fee will be waived as long as you complete and file your return in the app by the February 28 deadline. If you switch to filing on a web browser instead of the app or file after the deadline, regular pricing based on your tax situation will apply. While TurboTax Free Edition remains available year-round for simple returns, this app-only promotion allows free DIY filing for any tax situation when you file on time.

3. Take an extra 20% off TurboTax Expert Assist.

Get an extra 20% off TurboTax Expert Assist for a limited time with this instant coupon, with the offer available through March 30, 2026. This discount applies to federal products only and does not include state filing. It is applied in addition to early-season savings, but it cannot be combined with other TurboTax offers. Final pricing is shown when you print or e-file your return and may change without notice.

TurboTax pricing depends on the product and features you choose. Do It Yourself filing is typically priced from $0 to $139 and is currently available at a discounted range of $0 to $90. Expert Assist, which allows you to file on your own with access to on-demand expert help, normally ranges from $79 to $209 and is now available from $36 to $144. If you would rather hand off your taxes completely, Expert Full Service offers one clear price of $150, with both federal and state returns included. All pricing, features, and availability are subject to change.

4. TurboTax for College Students

If you’re a college student filing taxes for the first time, TurboTax offers features designed to make the process straightforward and stress-free. With guidance tailored to first-time filers, the software walks you through the process step by step.

Many students can take advantage of education-related tax breaks, such as education credits and deductions that could add up to over $1,000 back in refunds. If you’re an international student, TurboTax also partners with Sprintax, which specializes in non-resident tax preparation, ensuring you meet the specific requirements for filing as an international student.

5. Military Discount for Active-Duty Personnel

Active-duty military members and reservists ranked E1 through E9 can qualify for free federal and state filing with TurboTax Deluxe, Premier, or Self-Employed. This is a generous offer, but there are some restrictions to keep in mind:

  • The military discount applies only to TurboTax’s online products.
  • It excludes TurboTax Live and Desktop (CD/download) versions.
  • You’ll need a W-2 from DFAS to qualify for the free filing offer.

For military veterans and retirees, the standard TurboTax discounts (like the 10% federal product deal) will apply. If you fall into the active-duty category, this promotion is an excellent way to file your taxes without any out-of-pocket cost.

6. TurboTax’s Free Edition

For taxpayers with simple returns, TurboTax’s Free Edition is a great option. ~37% of filers qualify. Simple Form 1040 returns only (no schedules, except for EITC, CTC, student loan interest, and Schedule 1-A).

7. Bank and Credit Union Offers

TurboTax has long-standing partnerships with major financial institutions like Bank of America, Chase, Citi, and Wells Fargo to offer exclusive discounts to their customers. Many of these partnerships have returned for 2026, including the popular Bank of America TurboTax offer.

Bank of America Discount

One of the most popular deals at the moment is a $20 cashback offer for Bank of America customers who pay for TurboTax products using a qualifying Bank of America credit or debit card. Here’s how it works:

  • Activate the offer in your Bank of America account (if available to your account type).
  • Spend a minimum of $25 on a TurboTax online product while using the bank card tied to your Bank of America account.
  • Receive $20 cashback, which will be credited to your account within 30 days (or after the next billing cycle).

This offer will be available throughout the tax season, ending on April 18, 2026. It’s worth checking your Bank of America online account to see if it’s active. Navigate to the “cash back deals” section, where you’ll find the offer if it’s live (see examples below).

Other banks may have similar promotions, so if you bank with institutions like Chase or Citi, keep an eye out for announcements within your online account.

Are Financial Institution Discounts as Good as They Used to Be?

In recent years, some users have noticed that bank-affiliated TurboTax discounts don’t pack the same punch they once did. One reason could be the increased exposure of these offers, as they’re often widely shared on social media and forums like Reddit. Additionally, partnering with financial institutions likely involves advertising fees or commissions for TurboTax, which could impact the size of the discounts available to consumers.

While deals like the $20 Bank of America cashback offer are still valuable, they’re not as substantial as some of the larger discounts offered directly through TurboTax. It’s always a good idea to compare bank promotions with TurboTax’s own website offers to ensure you’re getting the best deal.

Costco TurboTax 2025 Discount (March 2025 Update)

Updated on Monday, March 3, 2025: We are happy to report that TurboTax is once again back at Costco for 2025 and now available at all local warehouse stores!

With their early season discount, you’ll save up to $20.00 on select CD/download versions of the software vs. the regular retail price. Here’s how much Costco is offering for each version at the moment:

  • TurboTax Deluxe Federal and/or Deluxe Federal + State on sale for $44.99 (normally $55.99).
  • TurboTax Premier Federal + State on sale for $64.99 (normally $82.99).
  • TurboTax Home & Business on sale for $75.99 (normally $95.99).
  • TurboTax Business (not available in warehouses, online only).

Just keep in mind that there is typically a limit of 2/each per customer. The applicable discount is automatically applied at checkout. Unfortunately, the online versions are not offered at Costco but you can still pick up a deal today at turbotax.intuit.com (online versions are now on sale through March 31, 2025 at 10% off).

What’s the difference between “CD/Download” versions and “Online” versions of TurboTax?

TurboTax’s ultimate goal is to help you file your tax return for tax year 2024. But the version you choose determines how you get it done.

If you pick up the CD/Download version of Deluxe, Premier, Home & Business, or Business at Costco then you will need to install the software on your personal computer. You will then only be able to use that computer to work on, file and submit your tax return using TurboTax. All your personal data will be locally stored on your machine. And unless you used TurboTax last year + the same computer to file your 2024 tax return, then you will also need to have your previous tax return handy to help you complete this year’s return.

On the flip side, if you decide to go with an “Online” version of TurboTax (our preferred method) then you will complete and file your tax return using your online TurboTax account. The benefits of this is that you can work on your tax return and save-as-you-go from any internet connected device; laptop, desktop, tablet and smartphone (including through the TurboTax app). That means you can start your return and, for example, your spouse can finish it off from a different device at a later date from where you left off. And if you used TurboTax Online last year then it remembers and instantly imputes last year’s tax data automatically for you where needed.

Which version of TurboTax do I need?

If you’re not sure if you need to buy Deluxe, Premier, Home & Business, or Business versions of TurboTax 2025, then be sure to get the lower-priced version of the two that you’re deciding on. That’s because regardless if you choose one of the CD/download versions or one of the online versions of TurboTax, you’ll also have an option to upgrade within the program if you need to based on your specific tax situation. The program will guide you through the process and if an upgrade is needed, then you will be directed to a payment option for the upgrade.
