Updated on Thursday, October 15, 2026: Athleta has not announced its Black Friday 2026 sale yet, but last year’s event gives us a useful idea of what to expect.
In 2025, Athleta gave app shoppers early access from November 14 through November 17 with 30% off eligible merchandise. The broader Black Friday event was expected to continue from November 18 through the end of the month, with the same 30% headline discount on most in-stock merchandise.
For 2026, we expect another early start rather than a sale that waits until Thanksgiving week.

When Will Athleta Black Friday 2026 Start?
Our best estimate is mid-November.
Last year, Athleta opened app-only early access on November 14 and was expected to move into its main Black Friday event on November 18.
That makes Athleta one of the retailers worth watching well before Black Friday itself. If the 30% offer returns, there may be little reason to wait until November 27 unless you are hoping for a deeper clearance markdown.
What Did Athleta Offer Last Black Friday?
The 2025 headline offer was 30% off qualifying merchandise. Early access was available through the Athleta app, with the broader sale expected to follow online and in stores.
Some exclusions applied, including gift cards, third-party accessories, certain price-as-marked items and selected collaborations. The offer generally could not be combined with other promotions.
That 30% figure is the main benchmark for 2026.
Leggings Should Be One of the Best Categories
Athleta’s leggings are usually among the first products shoppers check during a major sale.
The current sale section includes styles from lines such as Elation and Transcend, with some colorways already reduced well below their original prices.
For Black Friday, a broad 30% discount on current-season leggings would be solid. The more interesting deals could come from sale colors that receive an additional markdown.
If you know the size and style you want, it may be worth buying early because popular inseams and colors can disappear quickly.
Bras, Tops and Jackets Should Also Be Strong
Athleta’s sale assortment currently spans tops, bras, jackets, dresses, bottoms, swim and accessories.
That gives us a good idea of where Black Friday savings are likely to show up.
Current examples already include deep markdowns on pieces such as the Salutation Jacket, so a 30% Black Friday offer will be most valuable on styles that are still close to full price.
Check the Sale Section Before Buying Full Price
Athleta regularly marks down a large number of products outside Black Friday.
Its current sale section advertises up to 60% off and includes more than a thousand items across major categories.
That means the holiday sale is not automatically the best deal on every item.
If a color or style is already heavily discounted, compare the final sale price with the Black Friday offer rather than assuming 30% off full price is better.
Final Sale Items Need Extra Attention
Some of Athleta’s deepest current markdowns are marked Final Sale, which means they cannot be returned or exchanged.
That is worth checking during Black Friday, especially if an additional discount applies to clearance merchandise.
A very low price is less useful if you are unsure about sizing and the item cannot be returned.
Rewards Membership Is Worth Having Before the Sale
Athleta’s rewards program now operates under the Encore program shared across Gap Inc. brands.
Core and Premier members currently earn 5 points per $1 spent across participating brands, while cardmembers can earn more depending on the purchase.
Members also receive shipping benefits, which can matter if Black Friday discounts bring your cart total down below a normal free-shipping threshold.
Shipping Is Better for Rewards Members
Athleta currently gives eligible Rewards members free standard shipping on orders of $50 or more. Nonmembers pay $9 for standard shipping.
That makes membership useful during Black Friday if you are placing a smaller order.
Because the threshold is calculated after discounts, check your cart total once the promotion is applied.
Returns Are Fairly Flexible
Athleta currently allows eligible items to be returned or exchanged within 30 days of delivery for online purchases or 30 days from purchase for store purchases.
The company also offers its “Give-it-a-Workout Guarantee,” allowing eligible Athleta products to be returned within 30 days if they do not perform as expected. Final-sale items are excluded.
That makes buying a new legging or bra style a little less risky, as long as it is not marked final sale.
Should You Wait for Cyber Monday?
Probably not if Athleta brings back a broad 30% discount and the item you want is available.
Last year’s sale was expected to run through the end of November, meaning Black Friday and Cyber Monday were part of the same extended promotional period.
Cyber Monday could bring a different code or a deeper markdown on selected items, but there is no guarantee it will beat the earlier offer across the board.
For popular sizes and colors, buying during early access may be the safer choice.
