Confirmed 2020 Start & End Dates
2020 — What a year it’s been! Just about everywhere you look, things we normally took for granted are changing due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. That’s especially true when it comes to Black Friday shopping. Stores and malls/outlet centers nationwide that have never closed on Thanksgiving day itself have announced closures. Big retailers such as Walmart, The Home Depot, Target, Best Buy and Kohl’s are extending their sales this year. And many of the smaller mom and pop stores will likely be out of business before Thanksgiving rolls around.
So what about Dollar General? They are one of a handful of stores that will keep their doors open as usual on Thanksgiving day itself. Their Black Friday sale will span from Thursday through Saturday as it always does. The only difference are Thanksgiving day hours which have been shortened.
- Confirmed start date: Thursday November 26, 2020 (Thanksgiving day). Stores open from 7:00AM-5:00PM.
- Confirmed end date: Saturday November 28, 2020.
So what’s Dollar General doing to keep their customers save in a pandemic? Well, all stores have implemented 6-foot social distancing rules with floor spacing markers and plexiglass register barriers. They have new and expanded cleaning protocols. They’ve introduced a “senior hour” where the first hour a store is open is only for senior citizens (who are the most vulnerable to serious COVID-19 complications). And all customers, employees and vendors are required to wear face masks in stores.
