Updated on Thursday, October 15, 2026: Banana Republic has not announced its Black Friday 2026 sale yet, but last year’s event gives us a strong idea of what to expect.
In 2025, Banana Republic offered 40% off qualifying full-price merchandise online and in stores from November 27 through November 29. The discount was applied automatically, with no promo code required.
For 2026, another 40%-off event would be very much in line with Banana Republic’s recent Black Friday pattern.

When Will Banana Republic Black Friday 2026 Start?
Our best estimate is Thanksgiving Day or Black Friday itself.
Last year’s sale was officially live on November 27 and ran through Saturday, November 29. Banana Republic then moved into a separate Cyber Monday event.
That makes Banana Republic a little different from retailers that start their main Black Friday sale in early November.
What Did Banana Republic Offer Last Black Friday?
The 2025 promotion was straightforward: 40% off qualifying full-price merchandise, both online and in U.S. and Canadian stores. No promo code was needed.
The sale excluded several categories, including:
- gift cards
- select styles
- leather and suede apparel
- designer collections and collaborations
- third-party branded merchandise
- vintage and Banana Republic Archive items
Those exclusions are important because some of Banana Republic’s more expensive pieces may not qualify even when the headline says 40% off.
Dresses, Sweaters and Workwear Should Be Worth Watching
Banana Republic’s Black Friday sale tends to make the most sense on full-price pieces that do not normally get deep markdowns.
Dresses, sweaters, trousers, blazers and workwear are the categories we would check first. A 40% discount on a current-season blazer or dress can translate into much more meaningful savings than a small markdown on an already inexpensive accessory.
If you are shopping for a specific size or color, buying earlier in the sale is usually safer.
Outerwear Could Be a Mixed Bag
Coats and jackets can be some of the most appealing Black Friday purchases, but shoppers need to pay attention to material.
Leather and suede apparel were specifically excluded from Banana Republic’s 2025 promotion.
That means wool coats, puffers and other eligible outerwear may be discounted while premium leather pieces stay at full price.
For 2026, check the product page instead of assuming every jacket receives the same 40% discount.
Leather and Suede Will Probably Be Excluded Again
This is one of the more consistent restrictions worth remembering.
Because Banana Republic excluded leather and suede apparel last year, we would not plan on those categories receiving the main Black Friday discount in 2026 unless the terms change.
If you are specifically waiting on a leather jacket, Cyber Monday or a later seasonal markdown may be more useful.
Don’t Expect Designer Collections to Follow the Main Sale
Limited-edition collaborations and designer collections were also excluded in 2025.
The same was true for vintage and Archive pieces.
So while 40% off sounds broad, some of the most distinctive merchandise can sit outside the promotion. If one of those items is on your wish list, check its actual price once the sale starts rather than relying on the sitewide banner.
Encore Rewards Is Worth Joining Before You Shop
Banana Republic now uses the Encore loyalty program across Gap Inc. brands.
Core members receive free basic shipping on orders of $50 or more, Premier members get free standard shipping at the same threshold, and qualifying All-Access cardmembers can get free standard shipping on orders of $35 or more when using an eligible card.
Encore membership also includes points, member offers and extended return benefits at higher tiers.
If you are planning a Black Friday order anyway, there is little reason not to sign in before checkout.
Shipping Thresholds Matter After the Discount
Banana Republic currently gives qualifying Encore members free shipping on orders of $50 or more after discounts and before taxes. Nonmember shipping is currently listed at $9.50 for qualifying U.S. orders.
That “after discounts” part matters.
A $75 item discounted by 40% falls to $45, which may put it below the free-shipping threshold unless you add something else to the order.
Check the final cart total rather than the original price.
Returns Are Fairly Straightforward
Banana Republic currently allows eligible items to be returned or exchanged within 30 days of delivery for online purchases or 30 days from the purchase date for store purchases.
Encore members get additional benefits. Premier members can return eligible merchandise for up to 45 days, while All-Access cardmembers can have up to 60 days, although returns after 30 days may be issued as merchandise credit.
Final-sale items are not eligible for returns or exchanges.
Black Friday Is Better for Full-Price Items Than Clearance
Banana Republic runs sale and clearance pricing throughout the year, so Black Friday is not automatically the best deal on every product.
The real advantage of last year’s event was the 40% discount on qualifying full-price merchandise.
If something is already on sale, compare the live markdown with the Black Friday price. A clearance item at 50% off may still be better than a full-price item reduced by 40%.
Should You Wait for Cyber Monday?
Probably not if the item you want is already 40% off and your size is available.
Banana Republic’s 2025 Cyber Monday event was expected to start immediately after the Black Friday promotion, with another 40% off full-price merchandise online.
That means Cyber Monday may not offer a dramatically deeper discount.
For clothing, inventory is usually the bigger issue. If the exact jacket, dress or sweater you want is already discounted by 40%, waiting may only increase the chance that your size sells out.
When Will the Banana Republic Black Friday 2026 Sale Be Announced?
Late November is our best estimate.
Last year’s sale went live on November 27, so we would expect the full 2026 terms to appear during Thanksgiving week.
