Food Lion Black Friday 2025 Sale – What to Expect & When

Here’s a look at what you can expect to see at Food Lion’s upcoming Black Friday 2025 — including when it starts, how long it runs, the kinds of items that will likely be discounted, last year’s standout deals, and how much you can save overall.

Expected Black Friday 2025 Sale Dates & Duration

Food Lion typically keeps it simple with its Black Friday sales window. The sale starts on Black Friday itself, which this year falls on Friday, November 28, 2025. It usually runs through the following Tuesday, which would be on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, or until items sell out — whichever comes first. Most locations won’t extend the deals beyond that. Unlike some retailers that start a week early or roll into December with leftovers, Food Lion sticks to this Friday-to-Tuesday structure.

The deals are advertised through a 4-page circular, which usually drops a few days before Thanksgiving. If you want a head start, it’s worth checking their weekly ad section online or signing up for email notifications the week of Thanksgiving.

General Discounts: What Kind of Deals to Expect

The sale touches on nearly every major department in the store — from fresh produce to frozen items, snacks, meat, beverages, pantry staples, and even a few holiday-themed products. You won’t find markdowns on electronics or apparel like you would at a department store, but this sale is more about stocking your pantry, grabbing a few treats, and getting ahead on holiday grocery shopping.

Based on past years, discounts range from 10% to 60%, depending on the category and brand. Some items go on BOGO (Buy One, Get One Free) promotions, while others are offered at set multi-buy prices like “5 for $5” or “3 for $5.” This structure makes it easier to plan bulk purchases or stretch a budget over the holidays.

Produce Deals

Fresh fruits and vegetables are usually well represented in Food Lion’s Black Friday ad. These aren’t always the most dramatic discounts, but for fresh food, any markdown can make a difference if you’re buying in volume.

Last year, Food Lion offered 3-pound bags of mandarins and select apple varieties (Granny Smith, Rome, McIntosh) for $2.99 each. That was a good price at the time and is likely to return this year or land somewhere close. Expect citrus fruits, seasonal apples, potatoes, and onions to be featured prominently.

There’s also usually a selection of discounted herbs and holiday cooking essentials — great if you’re prepping meals for upcoming gatherings.

Meat & Seafood

Meat prices are where the real savings tend to show up. If you’re looking to stock your freezer or get ahead on meal prep for December, Black Friday is a solid time to do it at Food Lion.

Last year, they had 93% lean fresh ground beef for $4.49 per pound and boneless beef sirloin or sirloin strip steak for $8.99 per pound. That’s a solid price for lean ground beef and steak cuts, especially going into the winter months when prices often rise.

There was also a BOGO offer on Food Lion shrimp, which made it a good time to buy in bulk and freeze. If seafood is on your holiday menu — whether for appetizers, pasta, or a Christmas Eve dish — this is worth watching for again.

Chicken and pork options are often included as well, though not always called out in the ad. Keep an eye on bulk packs and family-size portions in particular.

Canned Goods & Pantry Staples

One of the highlights from past years was the Del Monte canned vegetables sale. Food Lion had 14.5 to 15.25 oz varieties for 5 for $5, which breaks down to $1 each. This type of pricing is perfect for stocking up on pantry staples, especially as winter soups, casseroles, and side dishes become more common in home kitchens.

Expect to see similar offers this year on canned beans, broths, pasta sauces, boxed pasta, and baking supplies. Brands like Food Lion’s private label, Hunt’s, Campbell’s, and Goya often show up during these sales.

If you’re someone who likes to keep a stocked pantry for emergencies or just general convenience, this is the time to buy.

Frozen Foods

Frozen meals, vegetables, and desserts are another area that tends to get some decent markdowns during Food Lion’s Black Friday sale. Last year’s ad didn’t highlight too many specific items here, but in past years, there have been discounts on frozen pizza, breakfast sandwiches, bags of frozen berries, and ice cream.

Frozen pies and desserts are especially common during the holiday season, so those may be discounted again. Expect multi-buy deals here — often “2 for $5” or “2 for $7” types of setups.

Beverages: Sodas, Beer & More

There were a few notable beverage deals last year, and it’s likely we’ll see a similar lineup in 2025. For soft drinks, Pepsi 2-liter bottles were on sale for 3 for $5. That’s a common promo price, but it’s still one of the better ones of the year, especially if you’re buying for a party or just prefer to keep soda on hand.

Beer drinkers had some options too. Last year’s sale included Corona, Modelo, Michelob Ultra Pure Gold, and Stella Artois — all priced at $16.99 for a 12-pack (bottles or cans). This wasn’t the deepest discount of the year, but it was decent for premium imports and name brands.

There are usually no markdowns on liquor or wine, since alcohol laws vary by state and sometimes restrict discounts, but beer is regularly featured in regional ads.

Holiday & Seasonal Items

Black Friday marks the beginning of serious holiday shopping, and Food Lion usually brings out a few seasonal goods. One example from last year was 6-inch live poinsettias for $5.99 each. These are a traditional holiday decoration and a nice deal if you’re buying several for gifts or events.

Other items to expect in this category include holiday-themed baked goods, cookie decorating kits, peppermint or chocolate-flavored snacks, and gift-ready food items (like boxed chocolates or specialty cheeses).

Lindt chocolate bars, for example, were on sale last year for $1 each — a good price for a brand that typically retails for closer to $3 or more. These types of deals usually show up at checkout aisles or in endcap displays near the front of the store.

Household & Miscellaneous

While the bulk of Food Lion’s Black Friday deals focus on food, you can usually find a few household and cleaning supplies mixed in. Trash bags, laundry detergent, paper towels, and toilet paper sometimes get a mention, though not always in the ad.

You may also see pet food discounts, especially on Food Lion’s in-house brands or common names like Purina. These don’t always make the flyer, so it’s worth browsing the aisles in-store or checking the digital coupons section of the app.
